Society Thrives Here - Noche en Casbah
A Magical Carpet Ride
La Luz’s Moroccan themed fundraiser, conceived and orchestrated by multi-talented board member Marcelo Defreitas, along with his dedicated Noche Committee, was the most successful ever—raising more than $300,000.
The night drew more than 500 attendees, including Alber Saleh, Dean Sereni, Dave and Vicki Stollmeyer, Suzanne Brangham, Jack Lundgren, Tom and JaMel Perkins, all glittering in caftans, turbans and sultan robes, and greeted by Hump-Free the camel as they entered the exotic Moroccan bazaar at the Hanna Boys Center.
Guests enjoyed falafels and kabobs with their Skyy Vodka martinis and wines from Highway 12 Winery. Auctioneer Ed Vaughn, and La Luz’s beguiling “genie,” Sheila Whitney, also entertained the crowd.
As the evening sky grew dark, brightly colored belly dancers gyrated with snakes and swords among the merry revelers.
A truly magical night for all.
